Learn more about social pinball events:

Tournament Events are an organized event with a coordinator, designed to unify pinball players of all skill levels and ages.  This is a great way to have a special night out with loved ones, family, and friends.

Tournament events are perfect to be introduced into the pinball hobby.   You can discuss game rules with the coordinator, and learn standard pinball practices.  Modern pinball machines have rich game codes and rules, beginners find it challenging to follow along and understand the game without guidance.  In a tournament event, all players get a chance to play on every game on location, with random competitors.   It is a great way to network, and walk away with possible new friends in this exciting hobby!

How pinball tournaments work:

  1. Arrive to the location, find the pinball area.
  2. Locate the sign up sheet and visit the coordinator to discuss the rules (variable per event)
  3. Pay your sign up fees – two fees are required.  One fee is the coin drop fee, the other fee is the entry fee to build the cash prize- this is a variable fee and is typically decided before the event with a group vote (typically $5-$10 as well).
  4. Pay attention to the coordinator call out for your turn.
  5. Play pinball, and win!

The style of game will be bracket elimination:

  • Bracket Elimination is simple – you will be randomly paired up with a competitor (known as seeding).  You and the competitor will play the same machine (player 1 & 2).  After the round is finished, the winner will move on to the next bracket, second place will compete will a different, equal competitor to have another chance at climbing a bracket.  After you have lost 3 times, you are out of the tournament.  The Player that eliminates all other players is the winner is the winner.  They will be awarded the prize pot of cash.

The more players, the larger the pot – and the tournament will also last longer.

Notice:  Since most pinball locations are in adult venues, drinking will most likely occur.  Be sure to verify if it a all ages event before bringing children.

Tournament Play happens at various machines & locations.  This is not to be confused with tournament event.

They are available only during business hours.  They can be played alone, or with partners (each person plays against the current high score).  Typically, there is one tournament play machine at each location, and usually are 1 month time frames.

How it works:

  1. Locate a pinball machine with a bright yellow sign on top of the back box that reads –TOURNAMENT PLAY
  2. Before starting the game, use the left and right flippers to read the tournament rules. On the digital screen, you will scroll through the details of the tournament – Current cash prize, how many winners, score needed, type of tournament and date it will end.
  3. Insert your cash  – the fee to enter are 2 credits – 1 credit is used to play the game, the other one goes in the prize pool and increases the value of the prize pot.
  4. Press the TOURNAMENT START button-  (located directly underneath the start button).  The button will not illuminate unless you have at least 2 credits entered.
  5. Play the game – play it well!  If you beat the top score, you will bump off the current winner and replace them.
  6. If you place in the tournament, after the game ends it will ask you to enter your name and a 4 digit pin code.
  7. After the tournament is over, whoever is leading will win the prize.
  8. Your cash award will be available a couple days after the tournament ends from the bar tender.
  9. If you are not a regular to the venue, you will need to tell them your 4 digit pin number.

Tournament Play is a fun way to enjoy the hobby, test your skills, and win some cash.  Since you play it alone, its a great way to refine your skills, and possibly win some cash. Return frequently to make sure you are still in the event!

Pinball leagues are coming soon!

How they will work:

  1. Teams of four people will sign up, and remain together for the event – so pick wisely!
  2. A schedule will be created, with one night a week as the play time.
  3. Over the course of several weeks (TBD) teams will compete on the same machines and set high team scores to move to the next bracket, and bump losing teams down.
  4. The finals will occur with the two leading teams.
  5. Winning team will get the trophy and the cash prize.
